LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Merrimack College baseball team was downed by Wagner College on Friday afternoon, 4-1 in the first game of the three-game series.
Kurtis Stadnicki had the lone RBI for the Warriors, as well as two hits.
Scott Elliott also had two hits for Merrimack, including a double.
Christian Gemelli and
Jake Macchi also had multiple base knocks in the defeat.

- Gemelli drew a walk with one out in the first inning, then stole second. He was left in scoring position at the end of the inning. The Seahawks scored one run in the first to take an early lead. Elliott walked to lead off the top of the second, he advanced to second on a wild pitch. A couple batters later, Stadnicki walked to put two runners on. Bother were left on base at the end of the inning. Wagner added two more runs in the second to go up three. Gemelli singled with one out in the third. Macchi then followed up with a single of his own to put two runners on for the second straight inning. Michael Golankiewicz walked to load the bases with one out. All three runners were left on base at the conclusion of the inning. Merrimack starter Wyatt Villella got the Seahawks in order in the third.
- Gemelli singled with one down in the top of the fifth inning. He was left on first. Elliott led off the top of the sixth with a double to left. Braydon Dolbashian was then hit by a pitch to put two runner back on base for the first time in a couple innings. Two batters later Stadnicki singled home Elliott from third, cutting the Wagner lead to two runs. Villella let up two hits in the bottom of the sixth, but did not let anyone score. Macchi singled to left with one down in the seventh. Golankiewicz then followed up with a single of his own. Elliott then singled. On the play Macchi was thrown out a home for the third out of the inning. Villella continued to deal, getting Wagner to go down in order in the seventh. The Seahawks got an insurance run in the eighth, putting them up three. Alex Haba doubled down the left field line in the bottom of the ninth, but could not get across home plate.

- Villella threw his first complete game of the season. It was also the first for the Warriors this season.
- Merrimack out hit Wagner 10-9 in the loss.
