Baseball Downed by Central Connecticut

NEW BRITAIN, CONN. – The Merrimack College baseball team was downed by Central Connecticut State University on Friday afternoon, 11-1. Kurtis Stadnicki led the Warriors with three hits on the afternoon. Jake Macchi hit his third home run of the season to give Merrimack its lone run on the afternoon.

  • Alex Haba was hit by a pitch and then stole second in the top of the first, he was left in scoring position at the end of the inning. The Blue Devils struck first in the bottom half of the first, scoring two runs in the inning. Stadnicki ripped his first hit of the game past the pitcher with two outs in the second. Andrew Selima was then hit by a pitch, putting two runners on. Stephen Santarpia walked, loading the bases. Unfortunately the bases were left loaded in the inning. In the third, Macchi reached on an error, followed by a Braydon Dolbashian single. Both were left on base at the end of the third. Central Connecticut added three runs in the third to take a five run lead. Stadnicki led off the fourth with his second single of the game. Haba the reached on an error with two outs in the inning. Both were left on base to end of the fourth. The Blue Devils scored once in the fourth to go up by a half dozen. 
  • Michael Golankiewicz singled with one out in the fifth. Thomas Crowley then added a single to left, putting two runners on with two outs. Both were left on base, the Warriors remained scoreless. Central Connecticut scored two runs in the fifth to go up by eight runs. Macchi homered to lead off the top half of the seventh. Merrimack loaded the bases in the seventh, but failed to get another run across home plate in the inning and the rest of the game.

  • Stadnicki's three hits are the most for him in one game so far this season. 

Up Next:

The Warriors will play their final game of the season tomorrow morning. The game time was originally scheduled for 1 p.m. but was been moved to 11 a.m.
