NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack College field hockey suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday morning. The game started on Friday afternoon, but was postponed to a lightning delay.
Lauren Burke scored the lone goal for the Warriors in a 4-1 defeat. Goalkeeper
Isabelle Gardiner earned her first start and had six saves in her debut.

- Forty seconds into the game, Colgate scored the first goal going up 1-0. Merrimack responded with two shots in a row, the first by Jane Bonazzoli and the second by Morgan Chase. The Raiders scored again on a shot that bounced around the box and found its way to the back of the net. Colgate scored again five minutes into the second quarter, going up by three. As time was winding down Cally McSweeney ripped a shot towards net, which was saved by the Raider goalkeeper. Heading into halftime the Warriors trailed by three.
- Just under three minutes into the third quarter, the game was delayed and started up again the next morning at 10 am. In the 39th minute Gardiner had a save to keep the deficit at three. As time was winding down in the third, Anne-Sophie Hogenboom had a shot that was blocked around the goal. In the 50th minute of play Burke scored on a penalty stroke to cut the Colgate lead to just two. Four minutes later, Julie Wester had two shots back-to-back, one that was saved and the other that was blocked. With two minutes to play Hogenboom fired a shot wide, ending the game for the Warriors offensively.

- Wester led the team in shots with four, including one that was on goal.
- Both teams were even in penalty corners with nine each. Merrimack was also only outshot by one 14-13.
