Women's Volleyball Drops Two at Dartmouth

Hanover, NH – The Merrimack College women's volleyball team played a doubleheader in Hanover, NH in the Dartmouth Invitational. In the first contest, Ivy League foe Dartmouth finished with a 3-0 final, while Lehigh followed suit earning a win in three sets. Sydney Green led the Warriors in kills with 17, Mia Ardila had 23 assists, and Cate Wright had 9 digs.

Set Breakdown (Match 1):
  • Both teams battled to a six-point tie. Merrimack tried to take the lead until Dartmouth went on a 10-point lead. Merrimack broke up the lead by receiving a point due to an attack error made by Dartmouth. Green answered with a kill, assisted by Ardila to bring the Warriors back into the first set. Dartmouth finished the first set, leading by 14 points.
  • Ardila lead the team in 13 assists throughout the three sets played.
  • Merrimack had a four-point lead into the second set lead by kills from Green , Hannah Webber, and Lauryn Mattiucci. Dartmouth responded back with their own four-point lead. Both teams scored to break their ties but Dartmouth went on to win the second set by six points.
  • Dartmouth had .352 hitting for the whole set against Merrimack.
Set Breakdown (Match 2):
  • Merrimack opened the second match of the day with a 4-1 lead before a five-point run led the Mountain Hawks to a .329 hitting for the set. Both teams traded the lead before Lehigh pulled away late, winning the first set with five points ahead of Merrimack.
  • The second set, Lehigh took an early advantage by scoring four points early in the game. Merrimack tried to tie up the score but Lehigh answered back with a seven-point lead.
  •  Wright scored the only kill in the second set.
  • Lehigh held onto the lead throughout the third set with nine points. Merrimack went onto a five-point run lead by Ardila, getting an ace on the fifth point of the run. Lehigh ended the run getting four points and winning the third set.
Notes & Notables
  • Quinn Kellogg led the Warriors in aces with four and second in assists with fifteen
  • Mattiucci earned seven digs in the Dartmouth match.

The Warriors will travel to West Virginia this Thursday. The first will be against West Virginia at 12:30 PM.
