SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Merrimack College women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss over Syracuse University on Sunday afternoon.
Jillian Golden was the goal scorer for the Warriors.
Ella Cormier had three shots, two of which were on goal.

- Two minutes into the game, Merrimack goalkeeper Lily Morgan made her first save of the game. Four minutes later she let up her first goal of the game, putting the Orange up one. In the eighth minute Hallie Shiers launched a shot towards net that was saved by the Syracuse goalkeeper. Two minutes later Cormier tried her luck, but could not find the back of the net. In the 18th minute Cassie Avenick shot a ball that was saved by the goalie, keeping the Orange lead at one. With less then a minute to play in the first half, Syracuse scored for the second time, brining its lead up to two heading into halftime.
- With five minutes down in the second half, Cormier tried her luck again with a shot on net that was saved by the goalkeeper. In the 59th minute Golden broke through for the first goal of the game for the Warriors. Sydney Haskins had the assist. Both team battled for the rest of the game, not allowing either to score.

- Morgan had a career-high 14 saves in the loss.
- The goal was Golden's first of her career.

The Warriors head back home to take on the University of New Hampshire on Thursday. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
