Ollas Third Shutout of The Season Powers Men's Hockey Past Providence

The Merrimack men's hockey team got back into the win column on Saturday night at Lawler Rink with a 3-0 victory over the Providence College Friars, powered by Hugo Ollas 35 save shutout.

The Warriors would break the ice late in the first period as Trevor Griebel would pick up the puck on a deflection and outwait the Friars goaltender to score with a beautiful back hand finish late in the first period.
 
Neither team was able to find the back of net in period two but that wasn't without either team getting opportunities to do so, Will Calverley's breakaway attempt was stopped off the line, and Hugo Ollas made save after save on the Friars two second period powerplays and made 13 saves in the frame.
 
In the third, Hugo Ollas continued his stellar play, keeping the Friars off the board and it would be Merrimack that would score the second goal of the night as Mac Welsher shot it crossbar and in to give the Warriors some insurance.
 
Providence pulled their goaltender with over three minutes to play, trying to find a way back into the game, but Ollas saved his best for last, included with some great blocked shots in front, Alex Jefferies would put in the empty netter to finish out the 35 save performance.

• Trevor Griebel, Alex Jefferies, and Mac Welsher also scored in the win.
• Zach Bookman, Matt Copponi, Tristan Crozier, Slava Demin, and Ryan Leibold all had an assist each.
• Ivan Zivlak had three blocks, leading the team.
• Hugo Ollas captured his seventh win of the season, and third shutout as well.
