NEW HAVEN, CT – The Merrimack College Field Hockey team dropped an NEC game to Sacred Heart, 6-1.

How It Happened
Merrimack was looking for their first win of the year with an upset bid over NEC foe, Sacred Heart. The Warriors would jump out to the lead early in this game with a
Lauren Burke goal just 6 minutes into the contest. With a 1-0 lead MC was looking to protect but Sacred Heart was able to tie it up just 2 minutes later. The Pioneers would tack on another one before the first quarter ended as well.
The second period saw three goals from Sacred heart before the halftime buzzer sounded. Scoring went dormant for the two teams in the third period. Merrimack did have a chance with a shot by
Autumn Bartush but it was blocked away by the Pioneers goalie. The fourth quarter saw the sixth and final goal of the game for Sacred Heart shutting down the chances of a Warrior win.
