BOSTON, MA – The Merrimack College Women's Basketball team was unable to take home their first win of the year as they lost to in-state foe Northeastern. The offensive struggles continued for Coach Kelly Morrone's team as they failed to score 50 in their third consecutive game.

Merrimack held the lead early with a 9-6 advantage after a trio of three's from Diamond Christian, Jayme DeCesare, and Rose Caso. However, the lead slipped away as the Huskies finished off the first quarter up seven at 16-9. The second quarter saw Northeastern push the lead to 10 but it was the Warriors roaring back to take the lead 25-23 behind a twelve to nothing run. Paloma Garcia had a 8-0 run by herself to help put MC ahead. Merrimack would go into the half down just three.
The second half started with a ten point blitz from the Huskies and it was Merrimack down 13 in the blink of an eye. Merrimack was able to crawl back in and trail by just six going into the final quarter of play at 43-37. Once again it was a flat start for Merrimack when Northeastern kicked off the scoring and continued to add to their lead to start the 4th. The Warriors were able to keep it close but the offense went stagnant scoring just 10 points in the final quarter as they failed to eclipse 50 points for the third straight contest. Northeastern would end up winning the game 58-47.
