Men's Hockey Wins Turkey Leg Classic Final Against Bentley

North Andover, M.A.—The Merrimack Warriors Men's hockey team had another come from behind victory, this time against the Bentley University Falcons as they won the Turkey Leg Classic final by a score of 4-3 on Saturday evening at Lawler Arena.

The Basics

Merrimack (6-6-1, 2-4-1): 4, Bentley (7-8-0, 4-5-0): 3

Attendance: 1,547

Merrimack found the net first as Luke Weilandt scored his first goal at 2:45 of the opening period. Bentley would tie the game three minutes later and take the lead 2-1 just past the ten minute mark and hold that lead into the intermission.

Bentley got on the board early in the second period to bring their lead to 3-1. Merrimack would get back in the game as Ty Daneault scored his third goal of the weekend at 7:18 of the second. Filip Forsmark tied things up at 3-3 on the powerplay firing home a Matt Copponi rebound at 9:25. Alex Jefferies tally put Merrimack back in front (4-3) with 55 seconds left in the period.

In the third and holding a one goal lead, Hugo Ollas held the Falcons at bay, stopping 11 shots in the final 20 minutes to preserve the Warriors victory.
