North Andover MA.-- The Merrimack Men's Lacrosse team earned their third straight win with a victory over Long Island University 15-9 on a sunny afternoon at Duane Stadium.

Merrimack jumped on the board first with a goal from
Jack Rooney that was picked up on the ground in the first 2 and a half minutes in the first quarter. The Sharks answered with a goal of their own but the Warriors broke the tie with a goal from
Brian Russell assisted by
Tommy Rooney. Russell scored again for the Warriors 3 minutes after scoring.
Drew Hailey scored a goal for Merrimack along with
Trace Hogan to have a two-goal lead after the first quarter 5-3.
The Warriors wasted no time going into the second quarter by getting a goal in five minutes from
Jack Barron.
Henry Vogt saved three shots from LIU before Merrimack scored. Nine minutes into the second quarter,
KJ Delane had his first goal of the afternoon.
Tommy Rooney scored a goal right after Delane's with an assist from
Trace Hogan. The Sharks had scored a goal right after
Grant Laman with an assist from Delane put the Warriors up 9-4 at the end of the first half.
LIU looked to come back into the second half with a goal to jump on the board. However, Merrimack did not look to take the foot off the gas pedal as they scored a goal six minutes in with a goal from Delane. Delane had his hat trick in the third quarter with scoring two more goals to put the Warriors up 12-5 with assists from
Sam Walsh and
Brian Russell.
Kasey Mongillo had scored the last goal for the Warriors in the third quarter with the score 13-5.
Mongillo got the Warriors going in the fourth quarter with a goal one minute in the quarter with an assist from Hogan. LIU went on a four-goal run and looked to catch up to the Warriors with the score 14-9.
Andrew Jenet came in to prevent LIU from scoring any more goals, with
Tommy Rooney getting the final goal in the fourth quarter leading the Warriors to a 15-9 victory in the afternoon.
Notes and Numbers:
KJ Delane had the lone hat trick with 4 goals, while Tommy Rooney, Brian Russell, and Kasey Mongillo had two goals each for the day.
Trace Hogan and
Grant Laman each had two assists
Allyn French won 6 faceoffs of the afternoon.
Henry Vogt made 13 saves in the win.

The Warriors will finish their fourth homestead before they head on the road as they take on Dartmouth College for Military Appreciation Day at Duane Stadium February 18. Game time is set for 1pm.
