NORTH ANDOVER, MASS – On Tuesday morning Merrimack College head coach
Joe Gallo was named as the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District 15 Coach of the Year. Gallo was also awarded the honor after the 2019-20 season.
Gallo, a Merrimack graduate led the Warriors to their second Northeast Conference (NEC) regular season title and the programs first NEC tournament championship this season. Merrimack finished the season with 18 wins, including 12 in conference play. The Warriors ended the year on an 11-game winning streak.
Under the direction of Gallo, Merrimack saw four players earn NEC postseason honors.
Jordan Minor was named co-player of the year and defensive player of the year. He was also named to the conference's first-team.
Javon Bennett was named NEC rookie of the year.
Ziggy Reid added a second- team appearance to his resume. Finally,
Jordan Derkack was named to the NEC rookie team.
