Men's Lacrosse Drops America East Opener to Binghamton

NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack College men's lacrosse team dropped its America East opener to Binghamton University on Saturday afternoon, 14-7.

Rapid Recap

The Bearcats scored the first two goals of the afternoon early in the first quarter. Kasey Mongillo then found the back of the net to put the Warriors down by one. Binghamton then scored again to go back up two. Brian Russell scored after being a man-up to pull Merrimack back within one. The Bearcats then scored two goals before the end of the first quarter to go up three. Jack Rooney opened up the second quarter with a goal, dropping the deficit to two. Binghamton then added four goals in a row to go up six. Joey Ford III scored with a little over a minute left in the first half. The Bearcats scored with 10 second left before halftime, giving them a six-goal lead. Russell scored his second goal of the afternoon to open up the third. Two minutes later Binghamton added a goal to retake the six goal lead. Tommy Rooney found the back of the net with seven minutes to go in the third. The Bearcats then added two more goals. With 10 seconds to go in the game KJ Delane scored this first goal of the game.

Notes and Numbers

Karl Sutter had a game-high 11 ground balls.
Jack Rooney and Russell both had four shots on goal.
