BALTIMORE, MD. – The Merrimack College men's lacrosse team was defeated by the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) on Saturday afternoon, 15-5.

The Retrievers opened up the game with a goal in the first minute of play. Three minutes later
Tommy Rooney found the back of the net for the Warriors to tie the game at one. UMBC then jumped on a three-goal run to go up three.
Drew Hailey scored the first goal of the second quarter to put Merrimack down by two. The Retrievers finished the first half scoring three goals and headed into halftime up five. UMBC scored the first three goals of the third quarter, swelling the lead to eight.
Jack Rooney and
Trace Hogan scored back-to-back goals in the final minute of the third quarter to put the Warriors down six heading into the fourth quarter. The Retrievers scored four goals in the fourth to win the game by 10.
Notes and Numbers
Sam Walsh had a team-high four caused turnovers.
Jack Rooney and
Brian Russell led the team with four shots on goal.
Up Next
The Warriors stay at home next Saturday for a matchup with the University of Vermont. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
