North Andover, MA- The Merrimack Women's Softball team fell in their three game series against the Central Connecticut Blue Devils as they were defeated by score 12-4 on a sunny Monday afternoon at Martone-Mejail Field.
The Warriors got off on the right foot as after forcing the Blue Devils to leave runners on the corners in the first inning,
Ellen Hubbard hit a solo home run on the second pitch she saw in the at bat to put the Warriors in front.
In the second inning, the Blue Devils scored six runs including a grand slam to take a five run lead.
The Blue Devils would tack on another hme run in the fourth and a third in the seventh to stretch the lead to 11 heading into the final half inning.
The Warriors however would not go quietly as
Sofia Palyan scored
Sydney Samuel and
Madison Cerpa with a bases loaded double, and the Warriors would score as
Madison Metcalf would score
Madie Fornwalt on a bunt, but the Warriors rally would be cut short following a fly out, thrown out at home double play to finish the game.
