North Andover, MA-- The Merrimack College women's lacrosse rode a strong second quarter to win by a score of 12-11 over Manhattan College on Tuesday afternoon at Duane Stadium.

How It Happened
Both teams were scoreless through the first quarter but
Hayley Kowalczyk was impressive as she made seven saves in the quarter. In the second quarter, the Warriors jumped into the lead as
Grace Boneu,
Sophie Scearbo and
Olivia Valdes scored three quick goals. After Manhattan got on the board, Merrimack got two more as
Natalie Calkins and Scearbo made the score 5-1. The Warriors would score three more to make it eight in the half with
Ellen Church scoring and Boneu completing the hat trick.

In the second half, Manhattan would cut the lead to three, but
Natalie Calkins would score back to back tallies, to double the lead again, Manhattan would cut the lead back to three before the end of the quarter. In the fourth, Calkins and Boneu would both score again to make the lead four, but Manhattan would score three goals to cut the lead to one in the final minutes. However Merrimack would stonewall Manhattan's final attack to preserve the win.
