North Andover, MA- The Merrimack Softball team dropped both games of their doubleheader against the College of the Holy Cross Crusaders by a score of 1-0 in both contests.
Â
GAME 1:
The first game of the afternoon was a pure pitchers duel as
Madie Fornwalt scattered seven hits over six and one thirds innings, allowing no runs before giving way to
Bry Michitson, who got the final two outs in the seventh. As the game entered extra innings, Holy Cross scored the games lone run as the ghost runner scored from second base on a double.
Â
GAME 2:
Holy Cross scored the games only run of game two in the first inning, but the game would settle in from there as both pitchers would lock in, allowing a combined three hits in the doubleheader. The Warriors best chances would come late in the game, a bunt pop out would end the inning in the sixth and in the seventh,
Sydney Samuel would lead off the inning with a walk and steal second but wound up stranded there as the final three outs were recorded.
