Baseball Swept By Central Connecticut in Weekend Series

ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack College baseball team lost its third game to Central Connecticut State University on Sunday afternoon.

● The Blue Devils struck first in the top half of the second inning, score a run. Christian Gemelli then responded by reaching on a fielder's choice, scoring a runner from third. Central Connecticut added a run in the third to go back up by one. In the bottom half of the third, Frankie Ferrentino singled to left, scoring one run for Merrimack, tying the game at two. In the next inning, the Blue Devils added a run to go back up by one. In the bottom of the fifth Scott Elliott launched a home run to once again tie the game. Central Connecticut added three runs in the sixth to take their biggest lead of the afternoon. The Warriors scored a run in the sixth after a Michael Golankiewicz sac fly, scoring a runner from third and pulling Merrimack within two. The Blue Devils added three more runs in the seventh to go up by five. Alex Haba hit a two-run home run in the seventh to cut the lead down to three runs. Central Connecticut then scored two runs to go by up five. Elliott homered for the second time of the afternoon in the bottom of the eighth, but the comeback effort was not enough.
