Long Island, N.Y.- The Merrimack Women's Softball team won their weekend series with the Long Island University Sharks with a split of their double header this afternoon, falling in game one 9-7 before taking game two by a score of 5-1.

In Game 1, the Warriors took control of the game in the third inning, scoring six runs after a
Sydney Samuel two RBI single and a
Thiana Brito three RBI triple. The Sharks scored four runs in the next three innings to cut the lead to two, before
Thiana Brito put a solo home run on the board to extend the lead to three. The Sharks would then score five runs in the sixth to take a two run lead that they did not relinquish to take the day's first game.

Game two of the afternoon was a pitchers duel through and through as
Bry Michitson allowed only five hits and one run over seven innings. With the score scoreless in the top of the seventh
Courtney Lanpher fouled off three pitches before launching a solo home run over the left field fence to put the Warriors on top. With the dam broken the Warriors tacked four more runs as Michitson,
Caity Lemay would score a run each before
Thiana Brito scored her fifth and sixth RBI's of the afternoon to make it a 5-0 lead. LIU scored one run in the bottom but Michitson would slam door to capture the series victory.
