Five Runs in Ninth Propels Baseball to Victory Over Maine

ORONO, MAINE – The Merrimack College baseball team added five runs in the ninth to help them earn the victory over the University of Maine on Tuesday afternoon.

Rapid Recap
● After no runs were scored in the first three innings, the Black Bears broke the scoring drought in the bottom half of the fourth, scoring two runs. In the next half inning, George Athanasiadis singled up the middle, scoring runners from second and third, tying the game at two. Maine answered back in the bottom of the sixth with a run to take back the lead by one. Chris Goode singled to left in the bottom of the eighth, tying the game at three. In the ninth, Alex Haba reached on a fielder's choice scoring two runs after an error by the Black Bear shortstop. Ben Nelson then reached on an error, scoring another run for the Warriors. Samuel Sherman singled to center, scoring two more runs for Merrimack, giving them a five runs advantage. Maine scored once in the bottom of the ninth, but it was not enough to beat the Warriors on Tuesday.

Goode tied his career-high with two RBI's in the win.

Dragon threw three innings, allowed just one run on one hit while striking out four and earning his first win of the season.
