North Andover, Mass.- The Merrimack Women's Softball team were defeated in their doubleheader matchup with the Saint Francis University Red Flash today at Martone-Mejail Field by scores of 5-4 and 2-1. Despite the losses, the softball has clinched their first ever NEC Tournament berth.

GAME 1: The Warriors took the lead first, as
Ellen Hubbard singled home
Caity Lemay and
Hannah Scarano, the Warriors scored their third run of the afternoon on a bases loaded walk from
Madison Cerpa. The Red Flash cut the lead to one with a home run in the third before taking the lead with a sacrifice fly and RBI single, however the Warriors tied the game back up in the bottom of the fourth when
Madison Cerpa scored
Courtney Lanpher after some great base running.

The game would remain tied deep into extras before Saint Francis scored the winning run in tenth inning.
GAME 2: The Red Flash took the lead in the second inning of game two, but
Sydney Samuel tied the game on an infield single, the game remained tied until the sixth inning when the Red Flash took the lead on a groundout and the Warriors were unable to tie the game in the final two trips to plate.

The Warriors will celebrate senior day tomorrow against the Red Flash. First pitch is scheduled for 10 AM.
