North Andover, Mass.- The Merrimack Women's Softball team was defeated by the Saint Francis University by a score of 6-4 on Saturday morning as the team celebrated senior day, honoring
Katelyn Thompson,
Viviana Bocanegra,
Courtney Lanpher,
Madie Fornwalt, and
Madison Medeiros.
The Red Flash got on the board first as they scored two runs on a double, and doubled the advantage in the same inning, but Warriors cut the lead in half with two quick runs in the bottom half of the first as
Courtney Lanpher scored
Ellen Hubbard with a hit and aggressive base running. Lanpher scored herself shortly after on a
Madison Cerpa single. The Red Flash however, reestablished their four run lead with two more runs in the second inning.
Hannah Scarano cut the lead to three an inning later before
Ellen Hubbard made it a two run game in the in the fourth. In the final half inning the Warriors brought the run to the plate but were undone by an unassisted double play to finish the game.
