LOWELL, MASS. – The Merrimack College field hockey suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon to Hofstra University 8-0.

There was no score through the first quarter of play. The River Hawks then added four goals in four minutes to go up. UMass Lowell scored once more to head into halftime up five. Four minutes into the third quarter the River Hawks scored their sixth goal of the night. The home team would score again before the end of the quarter. In the fourth quarter, UMass Lowell added two more goals to win the game by nine.
