NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack College football team defeated Virginia University of Lynchburg on Saturday night 44-0.
Tyvon Edmonds Jr. was the leading rusher for the Warriors with 213 yards and a touchdown.

Merrimack won the opening coin toss and chose to receive to start the game. On the fourth play of the drive
Brendon Wyatt took it 43-yards for a touchdown, the first of his Warrior career. After three punts for the Dragons and two for Merrimack,
Gavin McCusker found the end zone after a 15-yard run. The Warriors were now up two scores. The second quarter opened with a punt from Merrimack. On Virginia Lynchburg's next possession they were sacked in the end zone for a safely. Edmonds Jr. would score for the first time of the game to put the Warriors up by 23. On the first play of the next Dragon possession a fumble was forced and recovered by
Brandon Roberts. On the fourth play of the drive Wyatt scored for the second time in the game, putting Merrimack up 30. With just over a minute to play before halftime McCusker found
Jalen McDonald in the back of the end zone for a touchdown. The Warriors went into halftime up 37.
The third quarter consisted of all punts. The Dragons had the ball three times and Merrimack had it twice. Neither team could capitalize. Early in the fourth quarter
John Perry Jr. ran one yard for a touchdown. It was his first as a Warrior. Merrimack would go on to win the game 44-0.

Along with his two touchdowns, Wyatt finished the game with a career-high 112 rushing yards.
Roberts led the team in sacks with two.
DJ Frazier and
Darell Dorrah led the team with five tackles each.

Next week, Merrimack heads down to New York to take on Wagner College in its Northeast Conference opener. Kickoff is set for 4p.m.
