Rapid Recap
What a game it was in Staten Island, New York. A rainy affair on Wagner's homecoming was as hectic and crazy of a football game as you will ever see. The first score of the game was from the Warriors own, Tyvon Edmonds Jr., on a one yard plunge. That was the only score of the first quarter as it looked to be a potential defensive battle. However, the Seahawks struck back with a passing TD early in the 2nd quarter and added a field goal midway through to send the game into halftime with Merrimack trailing 10-7.

The third quarter started off with a Cole Peterson punt that led to a Wagner drive and score to put the Warriors down 17-7. Up to this point it was a relatively mellow game. However, on the ensuing kickoff Donovan Wadley went practically untouched taking the kick 94 yards for a house call and putting the Warriors right back into the game down 17-14. Then it was the special teams unit yet again doing just that, being special. A blocked punt, scoop and score from Nasir Maryland put Merrimack on top at 21-17 and had this team primed to spoil a homecoming celebration at Wagner.

The fourth quarter started with a quick touchdown to give Wagner the lead yet again at 23-21 after a missed extra point. Merrimack then had a gorgeous drive down the field commanded by Gavin McCusker and Tyvon Edmonds Jr. Edmonds Jr. would finish the drive off by punching in his second score of the game and retaking the lead for the Warriors at 27-23 before a failed 2 point attempt. Wagner was able to respond once again with a strong drive down the field, finishing off with a touchdown pass to lead 30-27 with 4:35 left to go. With still plenty of time left on the clock and a touchdown to win the game, the Warriors marched down the field and got inside Wagner's 5 yard line with under a minute remaining. The Warriors would run the ball 3 straight times from inside the 5 but were stuffed each attempt and sent out the field goal unit with 25 seconds to go in the game. Overtime was just a Lliam Davis chip shot away. Unfortunately, an errant snap left the holder Cole Peterson in a tough spot and he was unable to get the ball down. Peterson was walloped by the Seahawks defense ending the chances at an overtime victory and playing spoiler on Wagner's homecoming. The Warriors would drop this game 30-27 and fall to 1-3 on the year.
