Women's Soccer Scores Late to Win Over Wagner

Staten Island, N.Y.-   The Merrimack College Warriors women's soccer team scored a late winner to take all three points and make it two wins out of two in NEC conference play with a 1-0 win over Wagner on Thursday night.

  • Neither team was able to score in the opening half as the defense limited shots and Lily Morgan made a save on the only shot on target in the first 45 minutes.
  • In the second half, the Warriors gained an advantage on the field as Wagner was handed a straight red card with 30 minutes to play in the contest.
  • Merrimack was able to find the breakthrough late on as Jillian Golden knocked the ball over to Ella Cormier who finished coolly as the Warriors had the lead with five minutes to play. The Warriors would hang on from there to close out the win.
 
Notes and Numbers:
  • Lily Morgan stopped all four shots she faced.
  • Ella Cormier made it three goals in three games, her fifth of the season overall.
 
UP NEXT: The Warriors return home on Sunday, October 1st as they host the Sacred Heart Pioneers, kick off is set for 1:00 PM.
