How it Happened
The first half saw plenty of action from both sides. Sacred Heart found the back of the net first at the 4:35 mark of the first half. It didn't take long for the Warriors to respond, as Jillian Golden tied the game at one with her third goal of the season. 13 minutes later, Lauren Boughner would send a high-flying shot into the top left corner for her second goal of the season. The second half was kept scoreless thanks to the Merrimack defense. The Pioneers would get some shots off in the last 15 minutes of the game, but they were unsuccessful. The Warriors were able to hold on and secure the victory over fellow MAAC newcomers the Sacred Heart University Pioneers. This win for the Warriors helped their chances of making the MAAC playoffs.
