Rapid Recap
Early on the two teams would struggle to find the basket as the Merrimack zone once again was able to cause confusion, chaos and force multiple turnovers. After the first media timeout, the Warriors were able to find their footing and get the offense going. Merrimack would go up 17-9 over UMass Lowell with the scoring coming from all areas. Six different Warriors had scored up to this point. As the first half progressed, the Riverhawks cut into the lead but it would be Merrimack never letting go of that advantage going into the halftime break with a three-point lead, 35-32.
The second half would start with fireworks as Budd Clark found
Bryan Etumnu for a pick and roll lob that worked to perfection. Merrimack would go up five early after
Matt Becht knocked down three free throws to make it 42-37. The Riverhawks would hang around but the Warriors would grow their lead to the highest of the half at seven points around the 10-minute mark of the second half. At the five-minute mark UMass Lowell took the lead in which Merrimack never could get back. Clark along with Savage we're able to put together some nice offensive possessions down the stretch but ultimately it would not be enough to stop the Riverhawks.
