Rapid Recap
The day started with temperatures soaring into the 50's and sun hitting the center of the crest at Duane Stadium. The play on the field was a bit sluggish to start the first quarter. The two teams combined for just three goals in the first. The scoring started to pick up in the second quarter as the Warriors scored two goals to make it a 4-2 game before a 3-0 surge from the Pioneers to grab the lead at 5-4. Merrimack quickly tied it up and then took the lead behind a Trace Hogan snipe. SHU would score the final two goals of the first half and go into the third up 7-6.

The Warriors came out with a purpose on both sides of the ball in the second half. They would score all three goals in the quarter, limiting the Pioneers to just 5 shots on goal in which Henry Vogt handled all of them. Merrimack went into the fourth up 9-7 and added to their lead with two goals to put them up four, their largest advantage of the game. However, the Pioneers crept back into it with a trio of goals snugging up the game but it was too little too late for Sacred Heart who dropped their second game of the year. The Warriors would sneak out the 11-10 win on their home turf.
