The Basics
Score: Merrimack 8, LIU 10
Records: Merrimack (2-1, 0-0 AE) | LIU (1-1, 0-0)
Rapid Recap
It was a chance to get to 3-0 for
Mike Morgan's team, the best start in the division one era for the Warriors. It did not look good early on in this one as the Sharks pounced on the Warriors going up 7-0 before Merrimack was able to tack on their first tally of the game. The first quarter would come to a close at 7-1 and the second quarter offered us a much slower pace. The Warriors put up another goal as did LIU but it was the Sharks in full control heading into the halftime break at 8-2.
Credit to Merrimack who came out of the half and made some major adjustments. They once again limited the Sharks to just one goal in the third quarter but the defense of LIU stumped Merrimack's attack giving up just one lone goal. The LIU lead stayed at six goals heading into the fourth. The fourth quarter is when MC stepped on the gas. They opened up the quarter with two goals just over five minutes in before LIU silenced the mini burst with a goal. Merrimack would then tack on three straight goals but it was just too late as LIU would end up with the 10-8 win in Brookville.
