Statesboro, GA.—Merrimack Softball fell short against both the Georgia Southern Eagles and Radford University Highlanders, with final scores 5-3 and 7-2.
GAME 1: Georgia Southern took the lead in the first inning with an RBI single, but Merrimack would tie the game at one in the third inning as
Courtney Lanpher scored on a wild pitch. The Eagles would four runs in three innings to take a 5-1 lead into the sixth before Merrimack would cut back into the lead with a two run sixth inning as
Sofia Palyan scored on wild pitch and
Caity Lemay would score
Sydney Samuel with an RBI single. The Warriors would get the go ahead run to the plate in the seventh inning but were unable to cash in to close the contest.
Notes and Numbers:
GAME 2: Radford would score the game's first six runs before
Jordan Theriault would get the Warriors on the board with an RBI double to left field scoring
Madison Cerpa. Radford would score their seventh run of the game in the seventh, before
Courtney Lanpher would add a consolation run, scoring
Ellen Hubbard with a RBI double.
