Wilmington, N.C.—Merrimack Softball were defeated by the Kent State Golden Flash by scores of 8-1 and 6-1 to close out their appearance in the UNC-Wilmington Tournament on Sunday morning.
GAME 1: Madeline Arvai put the game's first run on the board as she singled to center field, scoring
Courtney Lanpher. Kent State would tie the game in the bottom half of the first, before scoring seven more runs with two in the third and fourth inning and three in the fifth.
Notes and Numbers:
- Courtney Lanpher, Madeline Arvai and Thiana Brito all had hits.
- Cecelia Imbimbo tossed an inning of scoreless relief.
GAME 2: Kent State scored three runs in the first inning and two more in the second to take a 5-0 lead. Merrimack would break the shutout in the bottom of the sixth inning as Courtney Lanpher walked and then scored from first after an RBI double from Madison Cerpa. The Golden Flash would add one more run in the seventh inning.
