Rapid Recap
Merrimack was going for a season best fifth straight win to put them into sole possession of third place in the NEC. It didn't look great at the start for the Warriors who trailed due to hot shooting from the Knights. It was 16-9 FDU before a 9-0 run by the Warriors capped off by a 28 foot three point jumper from none other than
Jayme DeCesare to send it into the second quarter. The second quarter was a war between these two bitter rivals. Bigs were banging down low in the post and up top the guards continued to attack one another. No one took a clear advantage as the largest lead in the quarter would not reach more than five which happened to be the score heading into the half with FDU up 37-32.
The second half started with a
Madison Roman layup to cut the lead. Roman battled foul trouble all night long and saw her minutes and production dip due to it. FDU would keep their lead before the Warriors tied it up after some work at the charity stripe from
Kaylee Thomas and
Paloma Garcia. It would stay right around even and it was knotted up at 50 a piece late in the third quarter. It would be
Rose Caso hitting two free throws to give the Warriors the lead heading into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter saw MC extend their small lead after a Thomas tray ball and a jumper from Shepard. Merrimack would then hit a stone wall and could not score the ball for over four minutes, opening the door for a Knights comeback. FDU would finish the game on a eighteen to six run ultimately stealing a road win 71-63 and crushing the hopes of the Warriors continuing their win streak
