Rapid Recap
The Warriors were looking for revenge from an early January loss to the Pioneers. This was a battle of preseason one and two and featured a few of the best players in the entire conference. The Pioneers were looking to play spoiler on the Warriors' senior day. Merrimack came out swinging and scored the first eight points of the game forcing Sacred Heart to use a timeout. The Warriors continued to control the pace in the first quarter and snuck out of the frame with a 14-9 lead. The second quarter was as close as it could be. It stayed within a two possession game for the entirety of the quarter. Merrimack would finish out the half with a two point lead at 32-30.
Thalia Shepard led all Merrimack scorers heading into the break with nine points.
The second half was a big struggle for the Warriors on offense. They would go on to score just nine third quarter points as Sacred Heart put up a 21 point quarter opening up a ten point lead going into the fourth quarter. In the fourth, the defense found their footing while the offense continued their struggles. It would be a 10 point quarter for the Warrior offense as the defense alone was not enough to mount a comeback. Merrimack would end up losing their second consecutive game coming off of their four game win streak.
