Rapid Recap
Merrimack started their ace Tyghe Healy on the mound as he came out to pitch after a scoreless half of the inning for the Warriors offense. Healy struggled in the first inning giving up four hits and four runs to the Pioneers. Merrimack would be unable to get back any runs in innings number two and three. Tyghe Healy did awake and found his stride as he kept the Sacred Heart hitting at bay for the next two innings. Braydon Dolbashian would finally break the seal for Merrimack with a three run bomb in his second at bat back from injury. Heading into the bottom of the fourth it was 4-3 but it would become another big inning from SHU scoring four more runs to go up 8-3. The Pioneers would add four more runs in the following three innings making it a 12-4 game going into the 8th inning. The Warriors would make a push after Sacred Heart pulled their starter. Christian Gemelli hit a two run homer and Hayden Bond followed that up with a two run smash of his own. All of the sudden it would be 12-8 going into the bottom of the eighth. SHU would score twice in the eight to make it 14-8 and the Warriors would not be able to get any more runs on the board losing the first of the three game set.
