The Basics
Score: Merrimack 10, Binghamton 9
Records: Merrimack (3-5, 1-0 AE) | Binghamton (2-5, 0-1 AE)
Rapid Recap
The Warriors got it started early.
Jack Kolbe scored the first of the game just over 30 seconds into the game. He would ignite what would be a gorgeous first quarter from
Mike Morgan's team. Merrimack would go on to score four goals and nothing got past the brick wall of
Henry Vogt. Merrimack led 4-0 heading into the second quarter and once again continued their punishment of the Bearcats scoring back to back goals to go up 6-0. Binghamton would then start to find their offense, scoring three straight goals to go into halftime with some momentum down just three scores.
The two teams would trade goals to start the second half making it a 7-4 advantage for the Warriors. The Bearcats would then tighten up their defense and add two more scores to make it a 7-6 game before the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter both teams struggled to score early on and it wouldn't be until the 7:05 mark that the seal would be broken. Binghamton would score to knot it up at seven. That goal would kick off a scoring run from each team as they both found the back of the net twice more to end the fourth quarter. A
Jack Kolbe hat trick goal put MC up before a Bearcats score tied it with just over a minute left in regulation. To start overtime,
Karl Sutter would win the faceoff which led into a Merrimack timeout. Out of the timeout it would be the rocket shot from
Kasey Mongillo to seal the game 10-9.
