North Andover, M.A.—Merrimack Softball picked up another double header split with the University of Massachusetts-Lowell Riverhawks with a 5-1 loss before a 7-5 win in game two on a cool and cloudy Wednesday afternoon.
Game 1: Lowell scored three runs in the games first two innings, before the game would settle into three straight scoreless innings before the Riverhawks would add two more runs in the sixth. Merrimack would break the shutout in the seventh with a
Thiana Brito RBI single but it would be all they could muster as the Riverhawks took game one.
Game 2: After a scoreless beginning to the game through first three innings, Merrimack would put up a crooked number, scoring six runs on four hits, and batting around in the inning. Lowell would go away as they would add five runs in the fifth as the rain began to fall in North Andover, but
Courtney Lanpher's solo shot to left and third hit of the ballgame would retake the game's momentum and
Cecelia Imbimbo's two innings of scoreless relief would capture the win and the save for the Warriors.
