Rapid Recap
The Warriors would be playing this game without their senior netminder in
Henry Vogt who was out with an ankle injury. In net for the Warriors would be
Griffin Caiozzo in his first ever collegiate start. Vermont would strike first in this battle of teams that were .500 in conference play. Merrimack was able to quickly answer that goal scoring just 20 seconds later coming from
Kasey Mongillo. Vermont would go on to score the final four goals of the first quarter to take a 5-1 lead. The Warriors would get back a goal, scoring the first tally of the second quarter just over a minute and a half into the period. This goal would come from
Jack Kolbe. The Catamounts would go on to score six unanswered to make it 11-2. Merrimack would then get back on the board scoring twice in the final minutes of the half. The Warriors would head into the halftime break down 14-4.
In the third quarter the Warriors continued to struggle on both ends as they were not able to make a push for a comeback. Offensively they would score just one goal in the frame, that being the first of the quarter yet again.
KJ Delane would be the one to notch it. Vermont would not let Merrimack build any momentum as they scored the final five goals of the third to go up 19-5. The Warriors were able to win the fourth quarter battle as they scored three different times, two from
Mikey Kloepfer and another off the stick of
Brady Covey. The Warriors would go on to fall 20-8 to the Catamounts.
