NEWARK, N.J. – The Merrimack College men's lacrosse team beat the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon 15-14.
Kasey Mongillo finished the game with five goals to lead the Warriors.

The Highlanders scored the first five goals of the game to take a commanding lead five minutes into the game.
Jack Kolbe broke through for Merrimack, scoring the first goal of the game with seven minutes off the clock in the first quarter. A minute later
KJ Delane found the back of the net with his first goal of the game to cut the lead down to three goals. NJIT scored then added a goal to go back up by four. In the final minute of the first quarter Delane scored his second goal of the quarter to cut the deficit to three heading into the second. Mongillo added two quick goals in the second quarter to put Merrimack down by one with seven and half minutes to play before halftime.
Aiden Glover tied the game at six with his lone goal of the afternoon.
Brian Bouwman scored a man up and
Trace Hogan added a goal before halftime to put the Warriors up by two heading into the second half.
Delane and Mongillo opened the second half with back-to-back goals putting Merrimack four. The Highlanders finally stopped the bleeding with a goal to get the advantage back down to three. Hogan broke through for his second goal of the game, putting the Warriors back up four. NJIT answered back with a goal to slice the lead back to three.
Jack Rooney scored his only goal of the afternoon with four minutes left in the third. NJIT scored two goals before the end of the third to head into the final quarter down two. The Highlanders scored the first goal of the fourth quarter to cut the lead to one. Mongillo added two goals in four minutes to increase the led to three. Kolbe found the back to the net with just under six minutes left in the game to put the Warriors up four. NJIT stormed back but the comeback was cut short. Merrimack would win the game by one.

- Rooney led the Warriors with five assists.
- Both Mongillo and Rooney finished the game with six points.
- Griffin Caiozzo had a career-high 12 saves in the victory.
