Gedacht's Extra Inning Shutout Helps Softball Earn Gritty Victory Over FDU

North Andover, M.A.— Merrimack Softball outlasted the FDU Knights in their final game of a three game set, winning the rubber match by a 1-0 score in nine innings.

The game belonged to freshman pitcher Anna Gedacht, pitching in all nine innings, allowing no runs,  three hits and striking out five.

With Gedacht pitching a shutout and playing solid defense including an inning ending double play in the top of the ninth inning as Sofia Palyan tagged the third base bag for the force out before whipping it across the diamond to Madeline Arvai who hung on through contact to get the out.

In the bottom of the ninth, Ellen Hubbard reached on an error and advanced to second after a hard fought at-bat, and Courtney Lanpher and Madison Cerpa who both reached base on a hit by pitch and walk respectfully, which brought up the aforementioned Arvai tp the plate, who lined a base hit into left field to win the game for the Warriors.
