WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. – The Merrimack College baseball team broke the programs single-season record for most wins in a season as the clock struck midnight in day two of the Northeast Conference tournament.
Christian Scanlon launched a home run in the second inning to give momentum to the Warriors. Both
Michael Dragon and
Jack Collins shut the door, allowing just one hit in the final three innings.

The Knights struck first in the top of the first with two runs. The Warriors responded in the bottom half of the inning after
Frankie Ferrentino doubled to left, scoring
Alex Haba who got on base earlier in the inning. After a shutdown inning from Merrimack starter
Tyghe Healy in the second, Scanlon found a pitch he liked and went yard for a two-run bomb. Runs came at a premium in innings three and four with both starters getting out of jams. In the top of the fifth, FDU added a run to tie the game at three. In the following inning, the Knights scored three more runs to go up three. Merrimack once again responded with a flurry of their own.
Cavan Brady started the scoring off with a double to right, scoring Scanlon.
Dawson Bryce followed up with a double of his own to cut the lead down to one. Haba then singled to right, scoring one and tying the game at six. After Collins got the Warriors out of a two runner on jam in the eighth, the Warriors were up to bat.
Logan Castellano drew a one out walk. After a wild pitch, pinch runner
Jacob Albert was on second.
Christian Gemelli got him over to third on a ground ball to the pitcher. Bryce then reached on a scoring error, scoring Albert. Collins allowed one runner on in the top of the ninth. He then got the Knights in order to earn the win.
Notes and Numbers
- Four Warriors finished the night with multi-hit games.
- The Merrimack pitching staff left 10 runners left on base in the win.
- Five Warriors finished with at least one run batted in.

The Warriors will take on Wager College on Friday night at 4 p.m. in the next round of the NEC Tournament.
