Football Falls to Dartmouth Saturday

North Andover, Mass. – The Merrimack College football team lost its 2024 homecoming matchup to Dartmouth College on Saturday afternoon in front of a record-breaking crowd in North Andover.

How It Happened
  • After the Warrior defense stopped the Big Green on four plays, the offense took over for the first time of the game. The drive ended with a Jermaine Corbett 13-yard touchdown run to give Merrimack an early seven-point lead. Dartmouth responded by a two-play drive that ended in a 75-yard pass and catch for a touchdown. The game remained tied heading into the second quarter. The only points of the quarter came with just under a minute left in the half. The Big Green kicker knocked down a 31-yard field goal to give Dartmouth a three-point advantage heading into halftime.
  • The Warriors got the scoring going in the second half with another Corbett touchdown, this time from 11-yards. The score would give Merrimack a four-point lead with just over 11 minutes to go in the third quarter. The Warriors would take the lead into the fourth quarter. After a great stop on third down by the Merrimack defense, the Big Green kicker knocked down a 50-yard field goal to cut the Warrior lead down to one. With seven seconds to play Dartmouth got into field goal range once again, this time from 32-yards. The Big Green kicker would knock to give his team the lead and the win.
Notes & Numbers
  • Corbett rushed for a game-high 137 yards and two touchdowns on 21 attempts. Corbett also led the team in receiving after catching three balls for 45 yards.
  • DJ Frazier led the team in tackles with six in the game. Deon Houston ranked second on the team with five, including three for a loss. He also had two pass breakups.  
  • Both Nicholas Lenon and Tyler Leavy had two quarterback pressures.
Up next
The Warriors have a bye next week and will get back to action on October 12 at Morgan State University. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
