Chestnut Hill, MA.-- The Merrimack College men's ice hockey team made it four straight wins after overcoming a two goal deficit, with five unanswered goals in the final two periods to upset the #2 Boston College Eagles on Friday night at Conte Forum.
Merrimack (8-10-1, 4-5-1): 5, Boston College (12-4-1, 6-3-1): 2
The Eagles scored the opening goal of the game in the first period, the only goal of the first frame, despite the Warriors having several chances to even up the game.
In the second period, Merrimack would go on the powerplay but Boston College turned the tables with a shorthanded tally. The Warriors made it even as
Antonio Venuto took the no look pass from
Zach Bookman and slotted the puck home to cut the lead in half.
The Warriors struck again after
Harrison Roy was left wide open in front and
Ty Daneault picked him out in front to tie the score at 2-2. Merrimack once again found success going right to the net as
Vann Yuhas scored his first Warriors goal to carry the 3-2 lead into the third.
Early in the third, Merrimack forced an odd man rush as
Nick Pierre created the turnover, and slid the puck over to
Zach Bookman who would finish the two-on-one to take a 4-2 lead.
Ivan Zivlak put the capper on this one with a top shelf shot with under nine minutes to play.
