Men's Basketball Surpasses Siena Saturday

North Andover, MA. – The Merrimack College men's basketball team picked up its sixth Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) win of the season at Hammel Court on Saturday afternoon 64-58. Four Warriors were in double-figures with Matt Becht leading the way with18 points. Adam "Budd" Clark  added 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists on the afternoon.

Rapid Recap
  • Siena knocked down the first two shots of the afternoon, however Devon Savage hit two threes to extend a two-point lead over the Saints. Siena would make a layup to tie the game at 6. From there, a smooth alley-oop driven by Adam "Budd" Clark followed by a Matt Becht three helped the Warriors cruise to a six point lead. Siena answered with a quick three however, a jumper from Malik Edmead followed by a layup from Clark helped the Warriors take their largest lead of the night 12-21. Siena would knock down seven points however, Sean Trumper pushed back sinking two free throws and a layup with just under five minutes remaining in the first half. Fueled by Trumper's fire, Savage landed his third three of the half to make it 31-25. Matt Becht closed the half with two long range baskets to put the Warriors up by five heading into halftime.
  • In the second half, the Saints scored the first two baskets, however the Warriors quickly added five points with a clean layup from Trumper paired with a three from Matt Becht. The Saints would make two free throws and a layup to cut the lead down to one possession but the Warriors remained persistent with Clark and Trumper combining for five to make it 47-44. Armandas Plintauskas and Edmead added crucial points off the bench for the Warriors with nine minutes left in play. Siena responded by knocking down three free throws however, a Matt Becht steal set up a mid-range jumper for Clark to balloon the lead to six. To cap off the afternoon it was Tye Dorset to Clark for another big three to clinch the victory for the Warriors, 64-58.
