Women's Hockey Ties, Drops Shootout to Holy Cross


Worcester, MA.- The Merrimack College women's ice hockey team tied the College of Holy Cross Crusaders by a score of 1-1 but they couldn't pick up the extra league point as they fell in the shootout 1-0, on Friday night.
 
Merrimack (6-15-2, 3-11-2): 1 (0), Holy Cross (7-13-2, 3-11-2): 1 (1)

Holy Cross scored the lone goal of the first period at 7:41 of the frame. Calli Hogarth would make eights saves in the opening 20 minutes.
 
In the second, the Warriors would create havoc in the Crusaders zone and Madison Cardaci would clean up the garbage in front and shovel the puck in to tie the game at one.
 
In the third, both teams would eclipse ten shots on net, with Hogarth making 11 saves, to send the game to overtime, and after neither team found a winner, the game would enter a shootout where Holy Cross would score the lone goal to take the extra point.
 
Notes and Numbers:
·       Madison Cardaci's goal was her fourth of the season.
·       Gabi Jones and Michaela Littlewood had the assists.
·       Calli Hogarth made 26 saves.
