CAMBRIDGE, MA- The Merrimack men's volleyball team lost to the Harvard University Crimson in three straight sets on the evening of January 22, 2025.
Rapid Recap
Score: Harvard 3, Merrimack 0
Records: Harvard 2-2, Merrimack 0-3
How it Happened
The first set would see the Warriors starting with an advantage and holding it throughout the first half of the frame. A combination of kills from Kai Vogel, Nick Tidik, and Kasen Owens as well as service errors from the Crimson would be instrumental in helping the blue and gold maintain their momentary lead. The two teams would be tied late in the set as a result of a run from the Crimson. Harvard would then go on to win set 1 by a score of 25-22.
The second set would begin with the Warriors once again taking the lead. Logan Whitaker, Ephraim Abhulime, Kai Vogel and Isaiah Vogel would help Merrimack get out in front early in the frame with kills from each of them. The teams would then go back to trading points halfway through the set. Despite a back-and-forth tilt and a great effort from the Warriors, Harvard would then use their momentum to win the set 25-18.
The third set had the Crimson taking the early advantage. Kai Vogel, Logan Whitaker, and Kasen Owens would keep the Warriors in the match, each contributing a number of kills. The Warriors would battle back to limit the deficit and stay in the game. But despite a great overall effort from Merrimack and very close sets, Harvard would pull away with this one, winning the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
