Storrs, CT.- The Merrimack College women's ice hockey team scored late and battled for a full 60 minutes but they couldn't get past the UConn Huskies as they fell by a score of 3-1 on Friday night.
Merrimack (6-18-3, 3-14-3): 1, UConn (16-8-2, 14-3-2): 3
Merrimack would kill off multiple powerplays in the first as
Calli Hogarth would make 11 saves to carry the scoreless tie into the first intermission.
In the second period, Hogarth would reach double digit saves again making 16, but the Huskies would score in the final six minutes and they would score a powerplay goal in the waning seconds of the second.
In the third, Merrimack would find energy after a timeout and they would find themselves back in the game as
Alex Ferguson fired in a shot with under six minutes left but the Warriors were unable to find a second goal as the Huskies fired in the empty netter with 2 minutes left.
