Women's Hockey Defeated by Providence

North Andover, MA.- The Merrimack College women's ice hockey team were defeated in their home return in the new year as they fell by a score of 4-1 on Saturday night at Lawler Arena.
 
Merrimack (6-14-1, 3-10-1): 1, Providence (9-8-3, 5-6-3): 4

After a low event first period, Providence would score twice in quick succession midway through the second period to carry the lead into the final 20 minutes.
 
In the third period, Emma Pfeffer would pick out Rachel Bjorgan who would drive to the net and her rebound was turned in by Maggie Kime who scored her first goal in a Warriors uniform. Providence however, extended the lead to two, just three minutes later, and tallied an empty net goal to finish the contest.
 
UP NEXT: The Warriors stay home for their lone game next weekend as they host the New Hampshire Wildcats on January 10th at 6 PM.
