How It Happened

Looking to take advantage of a struggling conference opponent, the Warriors started the contest in a close battle. A knotted-up match was broken when Morgan Thurlow notched not one, by two solo blocks which put the Warriors in control of the lead. The Peacocks fought their way right back into it going on a four-point run to daze the Warriors. Attack errors by the Peacocks allowed Marissa Kobelski and Mckenna Shotwell to team up for two straight blocks. Aubrey Baker took the reins and tallied a kill and block assist which put the Warriors in firm control of the lead. The Peacocks put together a few good rallies at the end of the set, but it wasn't enough as the Warriors take the first set 25-21.

It's time for the second set, and the Warriors trounced the Peacocks for an 8-0 run. Marissa Kobelski made it possible with a kill and two block assists. The Warriors didn't stop there though, taking advantage of multiple attack errors from the Peacock offense to increase their lead. St. Peter's didn't back down without a fight, gashing into the Warrior lead to tie it at 14-14. After the impressive comeback the Warriors found themselves in a tight match. Yet again, Peacock errors allowed them to easily retake the lead. Aubrey Baker heated up for two kills and a block assist when the Warriors needed it, helping them to the second set victory.

The win is within reach for the Warriors as they looked to complete the sweep. The Warriors jumped out to an early lead courtesy more Peacock errors. Kills from multiple players allowed them to keep the lead but the pesky Peacock's were able to claw back with the match on the line. Shotwell was able to put up two kills to keep the lead at 13-11. With the lead, the Warriors started committing errors which easily gave the Peacocks the lead. Trailing for the first time in the match, Thurlow and Shotwell were able to add two kills each which kept the score at 22-21 SPU. In the final moments of the match, it was Marissa Kobelski who made a difference tallying a block assist and a match winning kill. The Warriors emerged victorious making it their first back-to-back wins this year.
