NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.-- The Merrimack College men's ice hockey team scored four times as they steamed past the #6 ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats on Friday night at a packed Lawler Arena.
Merrimack (3-1-0, 2-1-0): 4, Quinnipiac (4-2-0): 1
A fast paced first period saw the Warriors jump out to the lead just past the halfway mark when a Bobcat turnover set the Warriors up perfectly as Mark Hiller dished the puck to
Michael Emerson to put Merrimack ahead 1-0.
Quinnipiac leveled the game in the final minute of the frame with a powerplay tally.
In the second,
Trevor Hoskin was rewarded for his tenacious effort as he finished out the shot by
Seamus Powell and buried the puck to give Merrimack a 2-1 lead that they would hold into the third, thanks to some great saves from
Max Lundgren.
The Warriors added to the lead just 90 seconds into the final period when a
Daniel Astapovich shot banked right onto the stick of
Nick Pierre and then into the net. Pierre salted the game away five minutes later with his second goal of the night.
