Explosive Second Half Helps Football Beat Robert Morris on Homecoming Weekend

North Andover, Mass. – Two unanswered touchdowns in the second half by the Merrimack College football team helped them secure the victory on Saturday afternoon in North Andover. A record breaking on campus crowd took in the game, as also to 16,000 people were announced.

How It Happened
Robert Morris got on the board first on their first offensive possession, taking a seven-point lead. The Warriors answered with points of their own. Carlton Thai knocked down a 34-yard field goal to make it a 7-3 game. In their last offensive possession of the first half, the Warriors marched down the field for seven points. Aveon Smith found Brendon Wyatt in the backfield. Wyatt made the most with the play, taking it 20-yards into the endzone. Merrimack would head into halftime with a 10-7 lead.

On their second offensive possession of the second half, the Colonial quarterback threw his first interception of the game. Kamden Wyatt snatched the ball away from Robert Morris, giving the Warriors back the ball. The score would remain 10-7 heading into the final quarter. Early on in the fourth quarter, Ayden Pereira found the endzone on a quarterback keeper, giving Merrimack a 10-point advantage. On the following possession RJ Chapman picked off the Robert Morris quarterback, his second of the game. The Warriors responded by marching down field, capping the drive off with a 1-yard touchdown from DeMarcus McElroy. The score would seal the deal for the Warriors on Saturday afternoon.

Notes and Numbers
McElroy had seven rushes for 98 yards and a touchdown.
Both DJ Frazier and Jacob Wilson led the team with five tackles. Frazier also had the lone sack for the Warriors
Frazier had a blocked punt in the first half.

The Warriors get back to action on Saturday afternoon at home against the University of Maine. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
